The Olympics are a great time for countries to come together for good ol' competition. An exciting time for the athletes involved!! Unfortunately this year I won't be watching the Olympics as they are being held in China, a country that doesn't allow personal freedoms. Everyone needs to stop worrying about the torch being "blown out" by people who see the ignorance around them and start worrying about the kids who have horrible lives due to oppression and poverty not to mention the parents who can't have the children they want due to a horrible ideal that only boy babies matter and that one is enough. Our country that PROCLAIMS from every pore that woman have the right to their own reproductive choices (although not all great choices, yet still a choice) isn't banging down doors to try to convince China to change. Their religous freedom over there is non-existent and for our country to support their practices and oppression is beyond my comprehension. We are a country that fights for personal freedom, basic freedom and even the right to be stupid freedom. Yet we won't stand up and say "NO, this isn't right." I am a supporter of President Bush, but he has dropped the ball on this one. He had (and still has) a chance to say that we support ALL people being free and until China changes that we won't be party to their pretending they are a magnificent nation. Seems hypocritical to me, but maybe I just love being able to worship Christ and have my beautiful babies without worrying about being killed for it, I guess I could abnormal???
